Review from Heather R.
Heather R. She also did a great job with the color. I've been smiling at myself when I look in the mirror, even if I just let my hair air dry. I didn't have the highest expectations for Red Chair - it was kind of an impulse cut/color because I hadn't gotten my hair cut since, oh, July - , but I was totally impressed. Their prices are beyond reasonable, too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Review from Inna B. Inna B. 9/27/2011 1 Check-in Here I found Red Chair Salon and lucked out when my 5pm call resulted in a ~6:30pm haircut with Amy. My last-minute calls RARELY lead to a same-day appointment! The employees were all very nice, and made sure to call me when they learned the client before me had really long hair, and her appointment would run a little late. Having time for a drink before my cut is fine by me! I got a good cut, but it felt very... rushed. She was washing my hair and they were approaching closing time when a client came in for a color that had been scheduled on a post-it note, or something, weeks before. (They were between appointment books at the time.) She seemed like a regular and Amy was the one she was there to see, so she ended up hurrying through my appointment so she could do the color and then close up the salon for the day. Thankfully my cut/style worked out well and nobody was hurt in the process, but I spent about $50 on that appointment, and I was a little bit put off by how rushed it was. It's still shorter than I want (and until some kind of miracle grow potion is invented, she can't very well fix that), but she cut it in a way that not only looks fabulous today, but is also working towards the eventual style I want (once the length gets there). They were all very kind and took great care of Jesse and me. Biggest thing? So I hopped on Yelp, saw all the great reviews for Red Chair (and especially Amy), and then saw that one of those raves was from my good friend (hi, Laura T.!), who has been getting pretty awesome haircuts lately. Amy had an opening that afternoon, and now my life is complete. We talked about my hair, she showed me some pics, the atmosphere was friendly and while she cut, and she styled me beautifully. Now, honestly, I usually love my hair when I walk out of a salon. The true test comes when I "do" it myself. The first time I clean it, comb it, scrunch some product into it, and then leave it utterly alone is when I often realize I don't love it so much. Not this time- Amy cut my waves PERFECTLY! I couldn't take my eyes off of myself (leading to an awkward moment at a gas station). It's a lot easier to actually do now (blow dry and curl, when I feel like it), and still looks great thrown into a ponytail for work. So thank you, thank you, sweet Amy... I will definitely be back for more. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3/20/2011 9 Check-ins Here Review from Laura T.

She always has a deep understanding of my haircut needs before picking up her scissors. I have super thick, curlyish, easy to eff up hair and I like to keep it semi short. Donna always listens to me and gives me exactly what I want. She is an expert on color and has had to tell me no when I picked a color that didn't go with my skin tone. (I wish she had been there back in the day... orange? What was I thinking?) I can take risks with my hair and feel totally safe because Donna has never done me wrong. She knows hair textures and what will and won't work for all hair types. I sent two of my friends to her who have opposite hair texture from mine (thin and fine) and they loved their haircuts and the sassy Donna. I couldn't recommend Donna more. She will keep the conversation flowing and give you the super cute, kickass haircut and color that you asked her for. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Review from Morgan W. 10 friends 9/22/2010 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Review from Chris W. 9/8/2010 8 Check-ins Here ROTD 3/24/2011 They give me a simple (cheap) buzz, they're pleasantly chatty (where else can I discuss mycology, haunted apartments, neighborhood gossip about that Scooby-Doo-ish rotting old mansion that nobody seems to live in?) and I can usually sneak in a non-reserved cut during the hours they're operating, even closer to the weekend. I've also had them squeeze me in between appointments when I can get away with it. Since I moved about a year ago, I've been putting off the search for my new "go-to" stylist - especially since back in my hometown, I'd had the same stylist for over TEN years!!! I called up Red Chair after skimming mostly glowing reviews and was booked with Kim. I arrived about 5 minutes early but she didn't skip a beat at all and seated me immediately despite the early hour (on a Saturday no less). Being the frenetic person I am, I had several photos printed out and a very scatter-brained explanation of what I was envisioning. I've basically run my hair through the style gauntlet and done every cut you can imagine, so I decided to stick with a style I was familiar with, and Kim immediately picked up on what I was *attempting* to communicate. She cut over 3 inches off my hair, thinned out my out-of-control layers/growth, AND did a blow-dry+styling in about 30 minutes. We chatted about boyfriends and our careers and it was really one of the most lovely haircut experiences I've had in the long time. It's rare to find a genuinely kind hair stylist who loves what they do, and Kim's definitely that. I'm not letting anyone else touch my locks from now on and I'd easily follow Kim even if she left Red Chair. I'm sure the other stylists are equally talented, and altogether, the entire staff was warm and friendly, like a family. (oh and bonus points for being from my hometown Kim!) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Review from Jessica C. 7/14/2010 Very nice establishment too, comfy and friendly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15 friends

I got haircut-impatient and my stylist was booked out a long time, so I took a same day appointment at Red Chair. Wow, was that a good idea. Tiffany gave me what has been universally agreed to be the best haircut of my life (and I've been getting essentially the same looks-like-a-Wes-Anderson-movie-version-of-myself bowl-cut/a-line bob since 2005, with a couple vain attempts to chop it off/grow it out/get an asymmetrical haircut that's er than I am). What's notable is that stylists always, ALWAYS try to argue me out of my beloved, campy Velma from Scooby Doo haircut, insisting that my hair parts naturally to the side (it has never once fallen that way by itself -- and I don't brush it), or that I would look better without bangs or at least without the blunt, short bangs I love. Tiffany totally got it! She made the beloved, much maligned haircut work for me better than anyone else -- I've been asked several times where I get my hair cut, always a good sign.

I've seen Donna twice now since I moved to Seattle in June and I love her! She just cut my long curly hair into a longish bob and I love it! I was pretty nervous and scared but I love the flirty and sophisticated cut and I've already received tons of s! She also colors my hair blonde (naturally brunette) and I love how it turns out!

Being new to the area, I struggled for awhile to find someone I like and have confidence in cutting my hair. Thankfully, I've have finally found Donna who has cut my hair 3x now. I think I walked in the first time and was able to get seen pretty quickly. The great thing about Donna was that she was able to identify what I didn't like about my hair without me knowing what I didn't like about my hair! (I was also a grad student at the time with a fried brain and hadn't put too much thought into it). Donna is a great listener, and she's so talented that I often tell her to do just about anything she wants or whatever will make my hair look good. Of course, being the good stylist she is, she tells me what my options are just in case. I also appreciate that she's not a product pusher, and her prices are reasonable! I also like that I can get my dose of gossip magazines while I'm at Red Chair.

I have to say this is by FAR the BEST salon I've ever visited. Never EVER will I go anywhere else! Not only do they offer the best prices in Seattle for all of their services, but the atmosphere of the salon is just an all around place to hang out and chat while you get your hair done. The first time I went in Donna did an amazing balayage color on my hair. I had already made an appt. at Vain who charges around $150 for balayage but when I found out it was only $85 at Red Chair I decided to give it a try and I'm so so glad I did. Donna was so fun to chat with and really paid attention to what I wanted. I've gotten so many s on my color it's crazy! So thanks ladies of Red Chair you totally made my life! So glad to have found you!

The Red Chair Salon turned a potentially traumatic experience into a wonderful new hair do. I went into the Red Chair Salon knowing that I was going to go from about 10 inches of hair to about 2 1/2. That kind of change is pretty big and after talking to Amy I gave her an idea of what I wanted (super short cut that required little to no maintenance, for my curly hair) and didn't want (pixie) and let her go to work. She was so awesome and genuine that I never once felt worried. The end result, I have a new haircut that is like short Halle Berry and my own latina style, and literally jump out of the shower, brush and go! A week later and I still love it, I will recommend the Red Chair to everyone!

Amy's been cutting my hair since before she opened Red Chair Salon. She's always been great about giving me the cut that I want. All of the stylists there are very personable and I have several friends that get their hair done @ RCS by either Amy or Kim. We also take my 3-year-old there to get his hair cut. He went through a phase where he did NOT want to get his hair cut and they all roll with it and help entertain/distract him while his hair is being cut. I made the mistake of taking him to the barber shop on 15th last time and there were many tears (he hates clippers).

Red Chair Salon is amazing! I went in with hair down to the small of my back, wanting to cut it short & donate it to Locks of Love. The owner Amy took on the task & did such an awesome job! I'm still loving the style she called "A-symmetrical Pixie", it's easy & so SASSY! I'll definitely be referring everyone I know to Red Chair Salon, and also will be going back for follow-up maintenance of my new do. Did I mention how AWESOME this place is??? Go there & see for yourself!!! You won't be disappointed.

I explained to her that I needed a low maintenance cut and color, and she immediately had a vision and went with it. I absolutely love what she did with my hair and walked out feeling like I had won a "before and after" makeover. Everyone in the salon is really nice and friendly. Red Chair rocks! Amy is an incredible stylist, and everyone who works there is sweet as pie without faking it. This neighborhood salon has great character, and there's free street parking all around. The quality is greater than the price for a haircut, which is a rare thing. But you'll still find me in Amy's chair when they do raise their prices.

As a recent transplant to Seattle, I put off getting a haircut until I started to look like an even shaggier version of Justin Bieber (Oh ya, it was bad). The receptionist greeted me as soon as I walked in the door, and even offered me a cold or hot beverage! Hot potato I hit the jackpot, ladies and gentlemen. Donna at Red Chair Salon trimmed my colossus nest of hair and did it WELL. By "well" I mean they did it how it should be done. You know, when stylists take the time to use scissors and make sure things are even and straight. For a guy who followed the same gal from salon to salon for four years back in Missouri, I was pretty impressed with my first visit.

i recently moved up here from california where you get a shitty haircut for 75 bucks. imagine my surprise to get EXACTLY what i have been asking for (for years mind you) for 40 bucks!
at the recommendation of my friend and researching salons on yelp, i found red chair salon! i called there on a friday at 10 am and explained to the gal on the phone that i wanted to update my look from the"soccer mom thing" that i have been trying desperately to get away from but somehow always end up having, to something more fun and current, and she told me that Frankie was my girl and to come in at 12.
i showed up, explained what i wanted to Frankie and she told me that could do it. at first, i was a little hesitant only because i had explained it SO many times to like 4 different stylists, and still...soccer mom, but after i had said the same thing to her like 7 times over (im totally not that girl even though it totally sounds like it) she was super and caught what i was throwin' at her and without the attitude that i assumed i would get.
she cut my hair dry, which i found super rad, and explained to me that it was much easier to see what was going on with the hair and how it lays and whatever...boy was she right!
all in all in took about an hour, i have a shit ton of hair and she washed and dried it after she cut it.
i freaking love my damn hair. freaking love it.
im pretty pumped that such a rad salon is right around the corner from me, its super cheap, and that i can just go in and let her do her thing and i know that i will love it!
thank you, frankie!

I heard about the Brazilian hair treatment in the news and immediately went looking for a salon who offered this service. Based on the positive reviews, I chose the Red Chair Salon, venturing out from suburbia.
I was greeted by the friendly owners, offered tea or soda, and after a chat about my hair, the treatment began. Amy spent 2 hours treating my hair - the whole time entertaining me with interesting conversation.
As the appointment came to an end, she mentioned that I needed to keep the gunk in my hair for 4 days - ick. No ponytail holders, hair bands and oh yes, no rain. UGH - I was not thrilled - but was okay if the results were positive. I only mention this because I was unaware of the down time.
Once I was able to wash my hair, I was ecstatic. All these years of hard to manage hair and now I have the most amazing, beautiful, perfect looking hair.
Thank you Amy....I could not be happier.

If you are looking for a laid back, friendly and highly skilled stylist, look no further than Donna Raphael at the Red Chair Salon. I met Donna when she was at Zero Zero. At that time,I hadn't found a stylist that I could both trust and afford. I had some pretty horrifying haircuts and I had pretty much given upon getting a cute haircut. So, when a super sassy, short-haired lass recommended Donna, I was hopeful, but skeptical. That was over a year ago and I haven't been to anyone else since.

I like this place quite a bit, but the real reason why I come here is for their stylist Donna. I started seeing her when she worked at Zero Zero, and when I found out that she moved to Red Chair I immediately started going there; especially since it's only a few blocks away.
I've recommended Donna to a number of friends, both male and female, and have never heard anything but rave reviews. My hair seems like it would be pretty easy to cut, but somehow I've had a number of other people manage to screw it up anyway; not only does Donna always do a great job, but she's a super person. Highly recommended.

Red Chair is the place to be. It is always a good time, lots of laughs, and yeah, they can do hair. We took our 6 year old daughter there today and Amy mixed up a custom purple to put streaks in her hair. She is the envy of all the first graders. This little girl is a rock star, but it is seriously for normal folk, like me, too. I have always looked my best when walking out of there, watch out Jennifer Aniston! And the price is always right. Amy, owner of Red Chair Salon breaks the odds! I was stuck with a style that was 20 years old. I have long, fine hair. I thought the odds for an updated, different style was against me. I found Amy thanks to my friend who has great haircuts and knows style. Amy listened to my concerns, showed me a picture of what she envisioned and made it happen with her expertise. I was so stuck, it wasn't clear to me the grand difference the style made, I look younger and updated. I liked it at first (because I was so stuck and didn't recognize myself) then went home and loved it. The mark of a great hairdresser is to see through what works and have the talent to make it happen. No pretensions at this Salon, get a real haircut from real talent. Don't get stuck like I did, see Amy at Red Chair Salon.

One day when I had evening plans on 15th Ave E, I realized I really wanted a haircut, so I got on Yelp and searched for a salon with good/great reviews in the area.
I found Red Chair Salon and lucked out when my 5pm call resulted in a ~6:30pm haircut with Amy.

I once again had a fantastic visit with Kim. Every time I go, I think it is the best haircut I have ever had. Today was no exception. I absolutely love my hair. Kim was as personable and awesome as always. Even going above and beyond with her service. She ed me and completely made my day (even my week). Whenever you get a little down that the appointment is over and you have to leave, you know it is a great experience. Looking forward to seeing Kim in four weeks!!!

You can tell that Donna really loves what she does and she truly wants you to look your best!

Hair dresser actually listened to what I requested: check
Totally unpretentious, not making me feel bad about never blow drying my hair attitudes: check
Dried the cut and then went back on her own to make adjustments without me asking: check
Didn't feel intimidated to ask for it to be a bit shorter: check
No awkward conversation and just the right amount of banter: check
All in all, this was the best hair cut I've had in a long time, and for way less money! $35 was completely affordable and they were able to squeeze me a half hour after I called.
*I don't remember the name of the woman who so wonderfully cut my hair but she's only been in Seattle for four months so you can ask with that qualifier?

Without hesitation, I recommend Red Chair and any of the stylists there to all of my friends.

My first time around was mixed. I didn't have the right stylist. That much is obvious. Jesse, however, who got cut at the same time as me, and got a FABULOUS cut.
This time (today), I'm happy to report that not only did Jesse get another amazing cut, Amy was also able to fix my hair.
My hair is cut well, I don't look like a marshmallow head, and I don't look like a nice-nice suburban soccer mom.
*breathes sigh of relief*
Thank you, Amy (and staff (and Howie)), for fixing my hair and making me a true believer in Red Chair Salon.
Five stars for you!
*sticks gold stars on Amy's forehead*

I've come here twice and gone to Kim both times. She is an incredible stylist and so much fun! I explained to her that I needed a low maintenance cut and color, and she immediately had a vision and went with it. I absolutely love what she did with my hair and walked out feeling like I had won a "before and after" makeover. Everyone in the salon is really nice and friendly. I would recommend Red Chair Salon (and Kim in particular) to anyone in and around Seattle looking for a new amazing, hilarious, and kind stylist!

Ah, Amy... Cutter of Hair, Fulfiller of Dreams.
I decided last Friday that I couldn't take it anymore: long, lifeless locks, no available appointments at my usual place, and I hadn't really been getting what I wanted there, anyway.

End of the year and time for a quick update. I've seen Amy several more times since the first review and she's been awesome each and every time. I especially appreciate how considerate she is about working around the hearing aid issues, as at other places, most of my salon time has been me staring boredly at the mirror while the stylist chatted with someone else. Here, I get to be part of the conversation for all but maybe 5 minutes.
Not only is Amy a genius with her scissors and dye, but the woman gives a super brow wax as well! I'm not a complete wuss when it comes to pain, but I'm definitely not a masochist either and so I have a tendency to put the waxing off...and off...and off. After a year(!) of no waxing, the brows were in dire need. It still made my eyes water a bit, but was one of the quickest, least painful waxing experiences I've had, and the brows look incredible.
Bonus: Being surprised with a 10% off check-in offer when checking into Yelp.

Donna is a consistently rock solid stylist. (I wish she had been there back in the day... orange? What was I thinking?)
I can take risks with my hair and feel totally safe because Donna has never done me wrong.

Love the ladies here.
They give me a simple (cheap) buzz, they're pleasantly chatty (where else can I discuss mycology, haunted apartments, neighborhood gossip about that Scooby-Doo-ish rotting old mansion that nobody seems to live in?) and I can usually sneak in a non-reserved cut during the hours they're operating, even closer to the weekend. I've also had them squeeze me in between appointments when I can get away with it.
The wait isn't too terrible, the free soda/tea is a relaxing perk, it's a very nice shop and I'm glad to have it in the community.

I literally JUST got home from getting my hair done by Kim and I couldn't be more ecstatic.
(oh and bonus points for being from my hometown Kim!)

Without hesitation, I recommend Red Chair and any of the stylists there to all of my friends.

Kim is the best. Why spend the money at some chain haircut place where the employees can barely talk to you when you can have the fun energy of the Red Chair!!! I just get buzz cuts so I am in and out, but I always see the same people in here, so repeat customers know this is the best.

It's a plus that they stock the full line of "crack for hair" aka Moroccan Oil! i recently moved up here from california where you get a shitty haircut for 75 bucks. imagine my surprise to get EXACTLY what i have been asking for (for years mind you) for 40 bucks!
at the recommendation of my friend and researching salons on yelp, i found red chair salon! i called there on a friday at 10 am and explained to the gal on the phone that i wanted to update my look from the"soccer mom thing" that i have been trying desperately to get away from but somehow always end up having, to something more fun and current, and she told me that Frankie was my girl and to come in at 12.
i showed up, explained what i wanted to Frankie and she told me that could do it. at first, i was a little hesitant only because i had explained it SO many times to like 4 different stylists, and still...soccer mom, but after i had said the same thing to her like 7 times over (im totally not that girl even though it totally sounds like it) she was super and caught what i was throwin' at her and without the attitude that i assumed i would get.
she cut my hair dry, which i found super rad, and explained to me that it was much easier to see what was going on with the hair and how it lays and whatever...boy was she right!
all in all in took about an hour, i have a shit ton of hair and she washed and dried it after she cut it.
i freaking love my damn hair. freaking love it.
im pretty pumped that such a rad salon is right around the corner from me, its super cheap, and that i can just go in and let her do her thing and i know that i will love it!
thank you, frankie!

Donna is a consistently rock solid stylist. (I wish she had been there back in the day... orange? What was I thinking?)
I can take risks with my hair and feel totally safe because Donna has never done me wrong.

I literally JUST got home from getting my hair done by Kim and I couldn't be more ecstatic.
(oh and bonus points for being from my hometown Kim!)

30 years on this planet and finally I found someone I trust to cut my hair!
Kelley is super amazing awesomeness!

This makes me so sad. She was my reason for loving this place so much.
When I asked where she moved onto I was given the "we don't know" bullarny.... Boooooo.
If your out there Kelley let me know where you went so I can follow.

My friend found this place, and we both thought it was great! Very friendly service, enjoyed chatting with all staff while we were there. For the price, I think it's worth 5 stars. Yes, you can find cheaper stylists, but then you run the risk of someone who has no idea what you are looking for. The girls at red chair rock!

My old salon closed recently so I decided to check out Red Chair since it is in my neighborhood. I have my hair done a lot so I like adventurous hair stylists and figured that is what I'd find here. Of course, I also need someone knowledgeable since my hair is rather damaged from all the adventures!
So Kim did a cut and color. The color looked ok and the cut was awesome. However, I quickly realized that despite having all over color AND low lights, my hair really looked about the same. I was pretty unhappy when NO ONE even noticed I'd had my hair done and it still had the same old yucky worn out color. Instead of being passive aggressive and complaining a bunch, I decided to just call and they had me come in the next day. Kim was totally cool and redid my color and I love it. They were all super friendly.
The thing is, hair is weird and sometimes we as customers might not be extremely eloquent in explaining what we want. I was very impressed with this salon's friendliness and professionalism and I will definitely be going back again!

My up-do appointment was officially with Kim, who was awesome, but Kelley chipped in too to get lots of hair up and curled quickly. Both beautiful ladies seemed to genuinely love their jobs and doing hair. I think I was the last appointment on a Sat night and they didn't lack any enthusiasm. They put up with my tender head and the fact that I had no idea how I wanted my hair done. I described my dress and they took it from there. Turned out really great.
The owners Howie and Amy were especially friendly and I fell in love with the salon dog, who had the best hair/fur of us all.
I can't wait until I need my hair cut so I can go back and hang out with all five of them.

Ok. I knew I was taking a risk by getting a hair cut by someone who styles herself like my 14 year old niece. But hey, I like supporting young girls fresh out of school. But I thought your gals had graduated, so why are you being catty and gossiping like its high school. Is that supposed to make me feel like I'm not your client, but instead one of your friends? Cause 1, my friends don't act like that. and 2, I know you just want a tip so you can take that money and cover yourself in more tattoos you'll regret in 10 years. But thanks, that trim was really worth the money.

I have been a fan of Amy and Kelley since their last place, a place that shall remain nameless and unrated. The salon is comfortable while you wait for your appointment, in the Red Chairs, theater style. You can look up your next tattoo in the magazines and chill to the soundtrack.
Even though I keep pretty short hair, Kelley has always done a perfect job; it's like she can read my freakin' mind or something. She always does little extras from offering me a soda to cutting a textured pattern so my hair falls the way I like it (messy style), and gives good suggestions when I want to go out of my comfort-zone hairstyle.
Owners Amy and Howie are the nicest people you will meet, and they run a cool business.

The Red Chair, staffed with feisty punk rock women, is completely rockin'. I just had my second haircut there, and couldn't be happier. Kelly has been my stylist both times.
Highly recommended.

I walk by Red Chair about 10 times a day (living in the neighborhood and all) and was getting pretty shaggy, so I thought I'd stop in. I have short, dumb guy hair that I'm secretly self conscious of. The wonderful Kim took care and time to make me walk out feeling all kinds of awesome about my new cut.
I have to admit, I'm loathe to entertain small talk, but Kim seemed like someone I'd be bullshitting with at a bar on 15th, it made the time go by nicely. She also recommended great styling products (a subject I'm so not versed in). I came out happy and looking much better.
Thanks, Red Chair.

Update - 8/19/2009
I just went for my second coloring stint at Red Chair Salon. I walked in to schedule an appointment, and Amy and Kelley gave me a consultation right on the spot. I went to Kelley for my appointment, and she did a great job with overall color (chocolate brown) and subtly-place highlights (a not-so-subtle dark blue, which I love). I'm really happy to have found this place and right near where I live!

2 words: scalp massage
As a Capitol Hill local, I've been looking for a salon that is affordable and makes me look fabulous. It's on 15th Ave, so I walk by it all the time. I knew it was going to be a fun experience when the stylists were trying on stripper heels when I walked in. (I was the first appointment of the day.)
I liked the music, the magazines, and the cut. Most of all I loved the scalp massage. Truly amazing. I felt completely relaxed after it. (and I had super shiny hair.)

I am what you might call hair obsessed. I tend to like to change it up on a regular basis, and I like a stylist that is knowledgeable about what would suit me and who listen to what I say and makes sure we are talking about the same things. I am also cheap.
I met Amy at Scream, and when she opened The Red Chair, I gladly followed. The salon is comfortable, friendly and accommodating. I am always offered a beverage, and have yet to wait for my appointment, even when I do a walk in. I walk in and am in a chair in no time.
Some days, I know exactly what I want and Amy gives it to me. Other days, I have no idea, and yet Amy still makes me look fabulous. I have never gotten a bad cut or color from these guys, and the pricing is so good that my upkeep is very affordable even in these penny pinching times. So if you want a great cut and color at an excellent price, The Red Chair is where you want to go. (Via Yelp!)

Kim gave me a perfect hair cut for only $30 and did not judge me on my decidedly unhip hairstyle preference (straight, blonde, nowhere near edgy) or my terrible hair practices (letting my roots grow out for months, swimming without a swim cap, and so on).
Also, I love love love a little gossip with my haircut. LOVE IT.

Nick E. below understand the neighborhood this salon is in just right so I will not recap. I must first disclaim that I love lots of hair salons in this town. I've been to many. I will probably visit many more.
I was walking in my hood one day, feeling rather boring and I decided to pink my hair. And, low and behold, that new salon looked like the kind of place that would do the trick. Tattooed, punk, metal, goth, rock...that's what the bios of the stylists told me with little words but lots of style. I appreciate knowing exactly what I'm in for. Maybe I could find a great salon within a few blocks of my house? I did!
It's great to hear this new little salon is doing well. It must have been freakin' scary to open in these interesting economic times. I don't know much of their story...I didn't go out looking for them...I just stumbled into a nice new neighborhood joint hoping to make my hair look fabulous. My boyfriend always says I'm pretty but tonight he had extra kind words for a hairstyle he would normally just sorta ho hum over.
The hair stylist Kelly made my hair the pinkest pink I've ever seen. I told her what I wanted and also said "do whatever you think looks good." In the end, I got exactly what I sorta pictured but a little bit better. The real test will be to see how I can make it look myself. Oh, did I mention I saw them tonight. I love my hair enough to yelp my review less than 3 hours later.

Yay! the anticipated Red Chair Salon has finally opened! My favorite stylists in the city, that I have been going to for years.. just broke out to their own salon ownership. Located on trendy 15th Street in Cap Hill-- this is a fun location near lots of shops and cafes. The decor is blood red, my fav color, and they have original velvet Cinerama movie seats for the customer waiting area.
A no frills attitude of fast service keeps your costs down, way down. Sorry you don't get a hand massage with your cut.. but you do get a fantastic cut and color by fun talented professionals. -- I just did and couldn't be happier.
Pros:
-Great Prices for Talented Hair Stylists
-Gothy, Synth and 80's style of music as your soundtrack
-Variety of Colors to choose from
-They do both Walk ins and appointments
Cons:
-You need to be a 'ninja' at parking on this street. Bike or Bus is best.
