Why do you require a credit card?

It is our shop policy for every client to keep a debit or credit card on file through our booking agent, Vagaro, in case of last-minute cancellations, reschedules, or no-shows. You are not required to pay with this card when you check out; it just remains on file as a safeguard. Read more about this on our Policies page.

We ask that you call us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you attempt to cancel or reschedule within that 24-hour period, we charge 50% of the appointment cost to the card on file. No-shows, cancellations, or reschedules that occur anytime (10AM or later) on the day of the appointment itself can be charged up to 100%. By booking with Red Chair Salon, you agree to this policy. Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes, we offer walk ins based on availability. If you're able, however, we definitely recommend booking an appointment. We also have a waitlist where you can either call to join or add yourself online via Vagaro!

What's the parking like near the salon?

Most spots in the immediate area on 15th Ave E are paid parking with a limit of 2 hours. You can usually find unpaid parking between 1 - 2 hour limits on nearby streets. For clients with longer services, we suggest looking for a space north of the shop, closer to Volunteer Park (where parking isn't paid, timed, or zoned) then walking a few blocks to the shop. Although it's tempting, DO NOT park in the KeyBank lot across the street, as they provide no way to pay and have their own overly-vigilant parking attendant and you WILL get a ticket.

Do you take cash? Which cards can I use?

We can absolutely take cash! We also accept all major forms of debit and credit cards (yes, even Discover and AmEx!), as well as Apple Pay, CashApp, and other major digital wallets.

What color line do you use? Do you sell hair care products?

The color lines we use are Keune & Danger Jones. On our retail shelves, we offer items from Amika, Eleven Australia, K-18, Keune, LOMA, and MoroccanOil. To get any of our luxury brands delivered to you, shop here to get the products you love!

Why are so many Red Chair retail items sold out?

We used to carry a wide variety of our very own line of Red Chair styling aids. Unfortunately, our manufacturer mysteriously went out of business without telling us, so the only things we have left are the last of their kind. You can shop our remaining Red Chair retail here (for pickup or shipping anywhere in the United States). The good news is that we're really happy with the other lines we carry right now, so there aren't any current plans to reinstate the Red Chair line at the moment. If you're looking for something specific, our stylists can recommend great replacements for our old line!

I'd like to donate my hair. What does that process entail?

Thank you for considering a hair donation! While we're happy to help, please note that these cuts are not complimentary, nor do we process the donation for you. However, all of our providers are knowledgeable about how to get you started and give you a fantastic transformational cut! Before you donate, please know most places that accept hair donations ask for 10 - 12 inches of "virgin" hair (never dyed) but even more is always welcome. If you're not sure who to choose for your donation, we suggest Wigs For Kids.

Should I wash my hair before my appointment?

Unlike many other salons, our cut & color services are inclusive of a shampoo & style for no extra charge. So, although you may choose to wash your hair prior to your haircut, there's time built into every appointment for our stylists to do it for you! We love sharing our high-end shampoos and conditioners while providing a relaxing head massage, which some would argue is the best part of the experience. If you are getting a color, we recommend that you DO NOT wash your hair for at least 24 - 48 hours prior to your appointment, as your scalp will need its natural oils to protect it from any chemical contact that may occur during your service.

Will you wash/style wigs?

Unfortunately, we don't have the capacity at the moment to book wig washings or stylings. We hope to expand in the future!

Do you offer extensions, perms, chemical hair straightening, smoothing treatments, Brazilian blowouts, eyebrow waxing, corn rows, or beard trims?

Can I buy a gift card for myself or someone else?

Yes, you can! Gift cards make fantastic holiday or birthday gifts, and are available for purchase in the salon or online here. Use them for anything from hair services to retail purchases!
