SUN-KISSED & SEAMLESS
Balayage
Hand-painted dimension at Red Chair Salon.
Color that ages well
Balayage is a popular choice for those looking to highlight or lowlight their natural color by painting selectively on their hair. Ombre, while similar, tends to mean the bottom ends of the hair are lightened or darkened more solidly (a less natural look but still a fun gradient). Bonus for both services: they grow out easier than a foil. Please call the salon to book more time for thick or extra long hair. Prices are "and up".
Consultations are encouraged for first-time color clients.
All color appointments include: a consultation, relaxing shampoo/scalp massage, style/styling aids, maintenance and product information.
The Blend: Hand-painted. No harsh regrowth lines.
The Result: Color that looks like yours, only better.
Upkeep: Most Balayage clients only need a refresh every 12–16 weeks.

What To Expect?
Step 1: The Consultation
Designing Your Look
Every Balayage appointment begins with a deep dive into your hair history and goals. We analyze your natural base color, skin tone, and hair health to determine the perfect placement for your hand-painted highlights.
What Does It Cost
Step 2: The Artistry
Custom Hand-Painting
We hand-paint lightener directly onto your hair using a sweeping motion. This allows us to place brightness exactly where the sun would naturally hit. The result is a soft, diffused transition that ensures a beautiful, seamless grow-out.
Level | Balayage | Time
Junior | $275 | 3 Hours
Advanced | $280 | 3 Hours
Senior | $285 | 2.25 Hours
Owner | $300 | 2.25 Hours
Step 3: The Science
Gloss & Bond Protection
Hair integrity is priority #1. Once we get the desired lift, we apply a custom gloss to perfect the tone. This neutralizes brassiness and adds warmth. Then we apply bond-builders that leaves your hair stronger and more reflective.
Taking care of your balayage highlights isn't complicated, but it does require the right approach and quality haircare.
Step 4: After Visit Upkeep
Signature Style & Tips
Pro Tips: Avoid washing for 48 hours after your appt so color pigment can fully settle (for long lasting results). Limit heat/sun exposure to prevent premature fading. Use a sulfate free, color safe shampoo & conditioner. A toner refresh every 4-6 weeks and a full touch up every 3-4 months will help keep the color looking fresh and blend seamlessly.

Because Balayage is a custom, hand-painted service, it requires more time than a standard color. Most appointments at Red Chair take between 3 and 4 hours. This ensures we can take the time needed for precise application and the proper processing time to keep your hair healthy.
-
Hair health is our #1 priority. During your consultation, we assess your hair's "elasticity" and strength. We use high-quality lighteners and often incorporate bond-builders (like K18) to protect the hair during the lifting process. If we feel your hair isn't ready for lightener, we will work with you on a "hair rehab" plan to get it healthy enough for color later.
-
Traditional foils usually reach the scalp and create a very uniform, patterned look that requires frequent touch-ups. Balayage is hand-painted, allowing for a "lived-in" effect where the color is concentrated on the mid-lengths and ends. This creates a much softer regrowth line, meaning you won't have a harsh "stripe" as your hair grows.
-
This is why our clients love Balayage—it’s incredibly low-maintenance. Most people only need a full service every 12 to 16 weeks. We do recommend coming in at the 6 or 8-week mark for a 60-minute "Gloss and Tone" to keep your blonde bright and your hair looking fresh between major sessions.

Yes, please! For the best results, we ask that you arrive with clean, dry hair that was washed within 24 hours of your appointment. Avoid heavy styling products or "root touch-up" sprays, as these can create a barrier that makes it harder for the hand-painted color to saturate the hair evenly.
